Up In the Hills of Athens

What a fantastic weekend – Blazestock 5 was an absolute blast. The weather, the company, the grounds, the food, the music – all of it great. It was a really positive atmosphere and everyone there was enjoying themselves. It was a fun, peaceful weekend out in the woods. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention some of the other acts that played – Playhouse, Shouts & Whispers, Vic Lora and others.

We got to play a set with our friend John Hurlbut of the Fur Peach Ranch as Hurl & The Spins and then a set of our own. Jorma Kaukonen played a solo song, then a couple with John and then one with us. We did a version of “All Along the Watchtower”. To top it off, we even got a mention on Jorma’s blog.

John and Jorma

The next day, Jorma’s wife Vanessa and John gave us a tour of the Fur Peace Ranch and Psylodelic Gallery. It’s really cool collection of artifacts from the 60’s psychedelic scene from Jorma’s own collection. There are a ton of amazing posters, clothes and instruments from that time. It’s a very cool place and worth the stop if you’re in the area.

We were very fortunate to be part of the weekend and of course very fortunate to get to play with Jorma Kaukonen. Thanks Al and Audrone for having us out and Happy Birthday Al!

Surrealistic Sit-In

So, we just got some very cool news. Lost on Iddings will be playing a private event up in the Athens area over the weekend, backing up our friend and the manager of the Fur Peace Ranch John Hurlbut for a set of music. As part of that set, we’re very excited to share the news that we are going to be playing a song with Jorma Kaukonen of Jefferson Airplane/Hot Tuna! I’m sure we’ll have some pictures and hopefully video and audio to share with everyone after the fact.
